Face Scanner Privacy Notice
1. Purpose of This Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how MaxBeauty (“MaxBeauty,” “we,” “us,” “our,” or “Company”) handles facial photos, skin analysis data, and temporary on-device technical outputs when you choose to use the Face Scanner feature in the MaxBeauty app.
It applies only to the Face Scanner feature and supplements the MaxBeauty Privacy Policy.
The Face Scanner feature is optional. You do not have to use it.
Face Scanner provides cosmetic skincare insights only. It does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, medical advice, disease detection, or emergency medical services.
2. How Face Scanner Works
When you choose to use Face Scanner, the app captures one or more photos of your face through your device camera. These facial photos may be uploaded to and stored on MaxBeauty servers so that we can provide your scan results, analyze visible cosmetic skin characteristics, track your skin appearance progress, display your scan history, and provide skincare recommendations.
To help locate facial areas during the scan, the app may also generate a temporary on-device face map, facial landmark map, mesh, or similar technical output. This temporary output is generated and processed locally on your device while the Face Scanner scanner is active. It is not uploaded to MaxBeauty servers, not stored on MaxBeauty servers, not shared with third parties by MaxBeauty, and not accessible to MaxBeauty through server-side systems or support tools.
The temporary on-device face map is used only to support the Face Scanner feature, such as helping the app locate areas of the face for cosmetic skin analysis. It is not used to identify you as a specific person.
3. Facial Photos and Skin Analysis Data
When you use Face Scanner, MaxBeauty may receive and store your facial photos. We use those photos to generate Skin Analysis Data, which may include visible skin texture, tone, redness, shine, pore visibility, fine lines, blemishes, visible marks, and other cosmetic skin appearance indicators.
Skin Analysis Data is used to provide cosmetic skincare insights, recommendations, scan history, and progress tracking. It is not used to provide medical diagnosis or medical treatment.
4. Temporary On-Device Face Map
The app may use Google MediaPipe Face Landmarker or similar in-app technology to support local face landmark functionality. As configured for the Face Scanner feature, this functionality runs on your device as part of the app and operates only while the app is open and the Face Scanner scanner is active.
The temporary on-device face map is not uploaded to MaxBeauty servers. It is not stored on MaxBeauty servers. It is not provided to Google through MediaPipe by MaxBeauty. It is not shared with third parties by MaxBeauty. It is not persistently stored by MaxBeauty as a separate user record. The feature is designed so that this temporary output exists only as needed during the active scan session and is discarded or overwritten when it is no longer needed for the scan.
For clarity, MaxBeauty may receive and store facial photos and Skin Analysis Data as described in this Notice. MaxBeauty does not receive, store, or maintain the temporary on-device face map on its servers.
5. What MaxBeauty Does Not Do
MaxBeauty does not use your facial photos, Skin Analysis Data, or temporary on-device face map for face recognition, face matching, identity verification, authentication, or identifying you as a specific person.
MaxBeauty does not compare your face against a database of other faces. MaxBeauty does not create or store a server-side face recognition template, face ID template, or face-matching database. MaxBeauty does not use your facial photos or temporary on-device face map for law enforcement matching, surveillance, cross-platform identification, or the development of face recognition, face identification, or face matching systems.
MaxBeauty does not sell, rent, license, or trade your facial photos, Skin Analysis Data, or temporary on-device face map. MaxBeauty does not provide these materials to third parties for their own face recognition, face matching, identity verification, advertising, or unrelated AI model training purposes.
6. Why We Use Facial Photos and Skin Analysis Data
We use facial photos and Skin Analysis Data to provide the Face Scanner feature, generate your scan results, analyze visible cosmetic skin characteristics, provide skincare insights and recommendations, allow you to track changes in your skin appearance over time, display your scan history, maintain app security, and improve the reliability and quality of the Face Scanner feature.
We may use aggregated or de-identified data to improve Face Scanner, provided that the data does not identify you and is not used to create a face recognition, face identification, or face matching system.
We do not use identifiable facial photos for unrelated AI model training or product improvement unless we provide additional notice and obtain any permission required by applicable law.
7. Permission Before Using Face Scanner
Before you use Face Scanner, we will show you a dedicated consent screen. The screen will appear before the Face Scanner camera is activated and before any facial photo is captured or analyzed.
To use Face Scanner, you must review the notice shown in the app and/or select an unchecked box and/or click the confirmation button. If you do not agree, you may skip Face Scanner and continue using other available parts of the app.
Your permission applies to capturing your facial photo through your device camera, uploading and storing your facial photo on MaxBeauty servers for Face Scanner purposes, analyzing your facial photo for cosmetic skin analysis, using your facial photo and Skin Analysis Data for progress tracking and skincare recommendations, and allowing the app to generate and use a temporary on-device face map for Face Scanner purposes.
Your permission does not authorize MaxBeauty to use your facial photos, Skin Analysis Data, or temporary on-device face map for face recognition, face matching, identity verification, authentication, or identifying you as a specific person.
We may maintain a record of your permission, including the date and time permission was provided, the version of the notice shown, the permission language displayed, your account or device identifier, and confirmation that the checkbox and confirmation button were selected. We retain permission records for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate that you agreed to use Face Scanner, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, maintain security, or comply with legal obligations.
8. Service Providers and Local Technology
We may use service providers to help operate Face Scanner, such as cloud hosting providers, storage providers, security providers, analytics providers, and AI service providers, including Google Gemini API where applicable.
Depending on the feature configuration, these service providers may process facial photos, Skin Analysis Data, prompts, scan results, or recommendation-related outputs on our behalf solely to provide, support, secure, or improve the Face Scanner feature. We require service providers to process data under our instructions, protect data using reasonable safeguards, and not use the data for their own advertising, unrelated profiling, unrelated AI model training, face recognition, face identification, or face matching systems. Our AI provider, Gemini, processes images strictly under our instructions and under a Zero Data Retention (ZDR) model.
Google MediaPipe Face Landmarker, where used, is different from a server-side service provider. It is used as an in-app, on-device technology to support local face landmark functionality. As configured for Face Scanner, the MediaPipe component runs locally on your device while the app is open and the Face Scanner scanner is active. MaxBeauty does not upload the temporary on-device face map to Google through MediaPipe, and MaxBeauty does not receive or store that temporary on-device face map on its servers.
10. Retention and Deletion
MaxBeauty retains facial photos and Skin Analysis Data only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Face Scanner, display your scan results, maintain your scan history, track your skin appearance progress, provide skincare recommendations, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect facial photos and Skin Analysis Data. These safeguards may include access controls, encryption or secure transmission, vendor restrictions, retention controls, deletion procedures, and security monitoring.
The temporary on-device face map remains within the local app processing flow and is protected by your device’s security settings, app security controls, and operating system protections while the Face Scanner feature is running.
12. Children
The Face Scanner feature is intended only for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect facial photos or Skin Analysis Data from children through Face Scanner.

13. Your Choices
You do not have to use Face Scanner. If you do not provide permission, Face Scanner will not be available to you, but you may continue using other available app features.
You may withdraw permission for future Face Scanner collection and processing by avoiding the Face Scanner feature, deleting your Face Scanner data where available, deleting your MaxBeauty account, or contacting us at [email protected].
Withdrawal prevents future Face Scanner collection and processing. It does not automatically delete data already collected unless you also request deletion.
